Mr Adam Wray: Associate Senior Leader Data & Assessment

Adam is an experienced teacher and leader with a background in engineering, technology and science education. After gaining a B.Eng in Engineering and Management from Brunel University, Adam began his career as an engineer with IBM before progressing to lead engineering teams designing automation, robotics and complex test technology systems. His work took him around the world, including time living in Japan and Silicon Valley, California. He also briefly ran a start-up business making organic and fair-trade chocolate products.

Adam’s four children have been a significant inspiration in his move into education, with their varying experiences of dyslexia and autism helping to shape his commitment to inclusive teaching. Motivated by a desire to support autistic young people to receive the best possible education, Adam retrained as a secondary science teacher.

Having taught science up to Key Stage 5 in both small independent schools and large state secondary schools, Adam joined ACE Tiverton in January 2019. As Associate Leader for Data, Progress and TA CPD, he works to support effective use of data, student progress and the professional development of teaching assistants. He also holds an extended leadership role as Cluster Leader for Maths and Science, while continuing to teach science. Adam is a self-confessed geek, with a passion for science, technology, computing and understanding how neurodiverse learners and students with SEND learn best.
